Following a consultation, we can start or repeat oral contraceptive pills — both the combined pill and the progestogen-only (mini) pill. We also provide emergency hormonal contraception (the morning-after pill).
Yes. Your consultation takes place in private, in our consultation room. We only tell your GP if you agree. Like all NHS services, some details are shared with NHS England and the NHS Business Services Authority, which check and pay for the service. This is the same for under 16s: we will not tell your parents or carers. The only exception is if the pharmacist thinks you or someone else is at risk of harm, when they may need to share information to keep people safe.
There is no minimum age once your periods have started. If you are under 16, the pharmacist will ask some extra questions in private, to check you understand the advice and that the service is right for you. There are upper age limits for the pill, which depend on the type, and the pharmacist will check these with you.
